Product
One clear picture of where you stand with the IRS — then we keep watching.
Topaz Ocean has two parts: a one-time Initial IRS Review that reads your actual IRS records, and Ongoing Monitoring that checks your account on a regular basis afterward. Here's exactly what each one does.
Overview
What Topaz Ocean does
Most people find out about a tax problem from a letter, a frozen refund, or a collections call — not from a clear view of their own IRS account. Topaz Ocean exists to close that gap. We request the records the IRS keeps on your account, read them the way a tax professional would, and translate them into a dashboard you can actually understand.
The product has two halves that work together: a one-time Initial IRS Review that establishes your starting picture, and Ongoing Monitoring that watches for changes after that picture is built.
We read the records the IRS actually keeps
Account transcripts, return transcripts, and wage and income transcripts — the same documents the IRS itself relies on — pulled directly from IRS systems rather than reconstructed from a notice or a phone call.
A limited, revocable authorization
You authorize us to view your records. We never receive authority to negotiate, sign, or make decisions on your behalf, and you can revoke access at any time.
One organized picture, not seven PDFs
Balances, filing status, and notices across every year get translated into a single dashboard instead of a stack of IRS transcripts written for tax professionals.
Ongoing visibility after the review
Once your Initial IRS Review is complete, Ongoing Monitoring checks your account on a regular basis and flags what changed since the last check.
Part one
The Initial IRS Review
The Initial IRS Review is a one-time, $299 engagement that answers a single question: what does the IRS actually show for you right now? Rather than relying on a notice you received or a balance quoted over the phone, we go to the source — your IRS transcripts — and read them in full.
- 1
Create your account and complete the one-time payment
The Initial IRS Review is a single $299 payment — there is no recurring charge tied to the review itself.
- 2
Share your taxpayer details
Name, SSN or ITIN, and address — the identifying information the IRS requires to look up an account.
- 3
Authorize limited, read-only access
You grant a scoped authorization that lets us request and view your IRS records. It does not let us change anything on your account.
- 4
We request your records from the IRS
If you already have transcripts, you can upload them for a faster start. Otherwise, requesting them from the IRS directly typically takes a few business days.
- 5
We read and organize what comes back
Every tax year gets broken into balance, filing status, notices, and relevant dates, cross-checked against the raw transcript data.
- 6
Your dashboard is ready
You get a single view of your IRS standing, and Ongoing Monitoring begins automatically from that point forward.
Key takeaways
- The review is a single $299 payment, not a subscription.
- You can upload existing transcripts to skip the IRS request step entirely.
- The review covers balance, filing status, and notices across every year on file.
- Your dashboard becomes available as soon as the review is complete.
Part two
Ongoing Monitoring
An IRS account is not static. Penalties and interest accrue, notices get issued, missing returns eventually get filed, and collection deadlines move closer. Ongoing Monitoring exists because a one-time snapshot goes stale the moment something on your account changes.
For $30 per month after your Initial IRS Review, we periodically check your IRS account and update your dashboard with what changed — a new notice, a shifted balance, an upcoming due date, or a filing status update. It is month-to-month with no long-term commitment, and you can cancel from your dashboard at any time.
Comparison

| What it covers | Full picture as of today | Changes since your last check |

Methodology
How we read your records
IRS transcripts are written for internal IRS use, not for taxpayers. An account transcript, for example, lists dozens of transaction codes per year — each one a cryptic three-digit number representing an assessment, payment, penalty adjustment, or notice. Reading one correctly means knowing what those codes mean in combination, not just individually.
We parse each transcript type — account transcripts, return transcripts, and wage and income transcripts — cross-reference the transaction codes against known IRS definitions, and reconcile them into a per-year summary: what was assessed, what was paid, what penalties and interest apply, and what notices were issued. That summary is what populates your dashboard.
Fit
Who this is for
Topaz Ocean is built for individuals who want clarity on their IRS standing before deciding what to do next — whether that means setting up a payment plan, closing out a missing filing, or simply confirming a balance is accurate. It is not a substitute for representation in an active dispute, and it does not file returns, negotiate settlements, or represent you before the IRS.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Does Topaz Ocean file my taxes or negotiate with the IRS?+
No. Topaz Ocean reads and organizes the records the IRS already has on file for you. We do not prepare or file tax returns, and we do not negotiate settlements or payment plans on your behalf.
What does the limited authorization actually allow?+
It allows us to request and view your IRS records. It does not give us authority to make changes to your account, sign documents, or act as your representative in a dispute.
How long does the Initial IRS Review take?+
If you upload existing transcripts, your dashboard can be ready almost immediately. If we need to request records from the IRS directly, it typically takes a few business days.
Can I use Topaz Ocean without signing up for Ongoing Monitoring?+
Yes. The Initial IRS Review is a standalone, one-time product. Ongoing Monitoring begins automatically afterward, but you can cancel it at any time without losing your review results.
